I've thought about the most painless and humane way to feed mice, and I think it is simply freezing the poor things yourself or buying them already frozen. Its a less hostile way for them to die. They huddle up and before they know it their heartbeat stops. This is also of course, better for the snake. i would think that being squeezed to death, knowing your about to be eaten, would be mental torture whether the mouse is numb or not.
