we have had a mini tree for a few years (artificial) I always leave it decorated (store it with a plastic bag over it)- all you have to do is plug it in! usually it's the first thing I bring out- many times it has restored the "christmas spirit" then we go out & buy the real tree! One year we gave the tree to a friend of ours who needed the "spirit" in July (he's a music producer) apparently it did the trick!
and a lot of weird looks at the office!
