There are several groups commonly referred to as 'huntsman' spiders. Mine is actually a species of crab spider... Sparassidae family. They, as a group, are more typically native to the tropics, but this particular species is native to the southwest US. There are other species that have been imported. Theres another group of huntsman spiders from Australia... and I'm sure others.

I've never heard of the daddy long legs referred to as a huntsman, there is a species called the harvestman - which actually isn't a spider its an 8 legged arthropod, and an arachnid though - which seems to be what you may be referring to. There are also -many- species of true spiders that are inaccurately referred to as the daddy long legs. =)
