for every wonderful green ig story there is a bad bad tale that involve blood fear and some behvior totally unexpectd, Most being male. That being said MNAY iguanas who are in a GOOD rehab place make GREAT pets because you have
a)skipped over the bad stuff and went straight into a great relationship with an animal who has been evaulated
b) been through any type of problem if one exists and in now ready for a home.
IG and WD's look a liitle alike as babies but that's about it.
Igs get BIG...need BIG cages. WD's get to a managable size you fall in love and yet I can almost guantee problems at some point...vet bills are in your future man. Only you can say whether it's worth it.
With ig's, getting a behaviorly healthy one I gave 2 choices:
Go to a REPUTABLE breeder (good luck reputable breeders do not breed green igs OR green wd's)...OR go to a REHAB and adopt a captive that is full grown and has been EVALUATED and if possible, socially adjusted to be adopted out.
Buying from a petstore almost always gives you a captive with problems--problems that are not so apparaent when the animal is a baby.
