Well, I have been bitten by snakes 8 times in my life. I have only been bitten once from a snake that I owned, and that was quite a few years ago. Does it hurt? I suppose it depends. A baby snake (non hot) generally doesn't hurt. It may draw a little blood, but those little teeth are pretty sharp, so you don't really feel the bite... just the impact. Larger snakes can give you a good scare! Getting bit by a 7' BCI could feel like getting hit by a semi truck hauling razor blades, or just a "closed mouth" warning strike. If proper handling and husbandry are observed, most boas & pythons are very doscile. If you are concerned about getting bit, then you may not want to get one. It just comes with the territory. Even if you NEVER get bit, you should come into this with the pre-assumtion that you WILL get bit sooner or later. If that sits okay in your mind, then just sped some time researching what snakes tend to be the most doscile, make sure you understand how large they will get, the financial and space requirements for it, and ALL of the proper husbandry and handling info you can find. Kudos to ya for asking q's first! You're at the right spot for research.
