I would keep to your normal feeding schedule, but keep in mind: After thier first year, they grow slower. In that, you should push thier feeding schedule back to every 12-14 days instead of every 7. This, of course only applies if you are feeding him the appropriate amount of food. It sounds like the small rat is the right size for him if he has a good size buldge after eating and the rat is no more than slightly larger than you BP at his thickest part.
