Both cedar and pine are toxic to small mammals, they contain aromatic compounds which cause severe liver damage over time, contribute to respiratory infections and allergies. Your mice would be healthier on aspen or Carefresh (recycled newspaper). The mice should have a steady supply of appropriate food, probably lab block is best for feeders. They also require a source of clean water at all times, as a mouse can become dehydrated and die overnight from lack of water. Make sure the temperature stays in the 70s. Also, make sure there's no cloth or string they can get their paws on, these materials are generally indigestible and can cause deadly intestinal blockage. All that said, good luck!
