Most of the time, if they know your going to feed it to a snake they wont sell you "pet" mice.

Is it safer? well, any live mouse has the ability to carry some nasty buggers for your critter. Frozen at least kills a lot of those off before your snake eats it.

Just because it looks healthy does not always make it is so.
