A swollen eye usually isn't something to be taken lightly. If it was like that since hatching then it's possible it could just be some sort of birth defect, and if not adversely affecting the snake and if it doesn't look infected it may not cause a serious problem, although sight through that eye might be diminished or totally lost. Other causes could be the snake scratching the eye on caging material such as driftwood, bedding, screening . . . It's possible the snake was bitten by a prey item. Or it could be caused by improper shedding and an eyecap could have been retained. Like I said, it could be a serious condition, and is something that could be checked by a qualified vetrinarian.
